The Pedosphere Research is a peer-reviewed international journal with open access that publishes original research papers, short communications and critical reviews. Papers are published in British English; in justified cases in Slovak or Czech with an English abstract. The journal is a continuation of the “Vedecké práce VÚPOP” first published in 1966. Scientific journal is published two times a year by the National Agricultural and Food Centre – Soil Science and Conservation Research Institute, Slovak Republic (www.pedosphereresearch.skwww.nppc.skwww.vupop.sk).

The crucial goal of the journal is disseminating, present and promote scientific knowledge about soils and its environment, their properties, use and protection, as well as to stimulate cooperation and understanding between pedologists and scientists on related pedological disciplines. The aims and scopes are quite wide relating to:theoretical and experimental studies on pedology and environment, genesis and classification of soils, pedo-geography, soil physics, chemistry, and biology, database and model solutions in pedology, applied studies related to soil fertility, management, protection, and sustainable land management, an interaction between soil and water, measures addressing soil erosion and other degradation phenomena, protection against drought and floods, recycling of carbon and nutrients. A pedologically oriented scientific journal should cover all types of research and land use, i.e. agricultural, forest and urban soils.
The journal is managed by the International Editorial Board.
